About us

Dhanesh RuparelOn and off since 1994, a group of players from the Littleton Cricket Club have played pick up games in gyms around the South Denver area during the off season.

During the winter 2001 season, a steady group of cricketers have gotten together to play indoor cricket at the Sheridan Recreation Center and the numbers have grown each year since.

The natural progression is for a more organized and standard schedule is about to take place with the 2004 winter-spring season with the loosely formed indoor cricket league. This is a season, where players from the Colorado Cricket League member teams and others with no league or team affiliation get together to play 90 minutes of cricket and get a great workout.

With the Colorado Cricket League getting more competitive and being recognized on a regional level, another natural progression is taking place. Cricketers want to get an earlier start on the out door cricket season; and what a great way to do just that than to get back into shape by playing a quicker, more active and competitive form of the great sport!

bIn 2001, Dan Ruparel organized a Junior or Youth indoor program for the students attending the Lois Lenski Elementary School in Centennial, Colorado. This program was and is still being held at the school in its gym. There is the Spring and Fall indoor cricket program, which is open only to the Lenski Elementary School attendees and 100% of the proceeds go to the school.

A good number of the elementary school cricketers graduated and progressed to the local middle schools and wanted to continue their association with cricket. As with the adult indoor cricketers, the juniors use the winter-spring program as a refresher and as an opportunity to practice cricket prior to the summer season.

Although Dan spearheaded to facilitate this effort, it has taken help, support, and encouragement from a lot of people in the from clubs around the league, including The Littleton Cricket Club membership, the junior cricket program and the South Suburban Recreation Center to make this phase of indoor cricket a reality. Some of the people that need to be mentioned are Ms. JoAnn Gould and Eddie, of SSPRD; Raghu Raman and Pat Tugman, parents and very, very active junior program supporters; Jarrar Jaffri, 2004 and 2005 League President; Kit Diasabegunawardena, AJ, Srini, Phani and Peter Renton, all cricket players present and past; among many others too numerous to mention.

It only made sense to work to book the Sheridan Recreation Center for the entire day for indoor cricket. Who knows, with the fitness and sports mindset of Denver area residents, this may just be the start of something really, really big for Colorado cricket!

Stay tuned!
