2006 Winter Indoor Cricket Archives

The Indoor season ended on Sun, 23 Apr 2006 with a match that was close until the last 2 overs, when the Denver Sluggers took a page out of Littleton CC One’s book and put them away.

The Sluggers played a very conservative and smart match by bowling a very tight line and length to put immense pressure on LCC-One's batting. One could complain of the bad pitch or the tall grass in the out field, but that was not the case today. It was the Sluggers day as every catch was held, sometimes on the second or third try. Balls from the ceiling dropped softly like shuttlecocks straight into safe, waiting hands to be caught.

This was totally different for LCC-One - it was not their day, the few catches that were offered were difficult and even if they did make it to hand, they did not stick. Ceiling shots ricocheted like the ball in a pinball table and squirted out away from all and sundry.

Unlike LCC-One’s performance throughout the season, they were just were just outplayed, plain and simple and the Sluggers were clearly the better team today.

The toss was won by DSCC and LCC-One batted first, and scored 114 in 12 overs (with 10 outs). DSCC scored 156 in 11 overs before the game was called. Sudarshan from SWC did a great job umpiring.

This gives DSCC their first Indoor Crown! Congratulations to the Sluggers Indoor team!
